Which Brand Should I Buy?

Why Emile Henry Flame?

Emile Henry is a family run international company dating back to 1850. It still manufactures in France, in Marcigny in Burgundy, employing 200 craftsmen. Marcigny is a small town nestling between the hills of Southern Burgundy and has been home to Emile Henry for the past 150 years. Faithful to its origins, the entire production is carried out here. It now exports to more than 50 countries, producing over 6 million pieces per year

The Emile Henry Flame range is a brand new innovation combining classic French style ceramic kitchenware and high tech innovation. It is the first ceramic casserole that can be used in direct contact with a flame. I think it is a fantastic, versatile range.

Emile Henry Flame® has a unique ceramic which can be used in the oven, microwave, dishwasher or freezer. It is amazingly strong, highly resistant to thermal shocks (-20°C -> +250°C) and mechanical shocks (ie chip resistant). The hard glaze makes it possible to put any metallic utensil inside or to cut directly on the inside with a knife without scratching. This is on top of the traditional benefits of ceramic cookware, which diffuses heat slowly and evenly.

All dishes in the range can be used on stove tops, in the oven and microwave, and can also be easily cleaned in the dishwasher.

Emile Henry is certified according to the international standard ISO 9001.

Why Swan?

The English "Swan" brand has been famous for over a century. Manufacturing of kitchen electrical appliances began in Birmingham in the early part of the 20th century by Bulpitt &Sons Ltd who pioneered the first electric element that could be immersed in water. A whole range of products followed, including tea urns, kettles, steamers and coffee percolators. Later, a unique, patented safety cut-out for kettles was introduced.

The Swan brand continued its success throughout the next few decades and became synonymous with solid, British manufacturing quality and innovation. There was a Swan branded product in virtually every home. However, by the 1990s, as with much of Britain's manufacturing base, the company suffered greatly from competition from the Far East imports. I am pleased to say that Swan has re-emerged today as a small, company run by ex Swan employees based in Stoke on Trent and dedicated to reviving the traditional Swan name.

The new Swan product range includes their traditional specialism in kettles, hot water urns and coffee grinders. The very latest products include tabletop electrical cookware such as slow cookers, fryers, raclettes and electric fondues.Reasonably priced and convenient cooking.
