Chocolate Fondue - USA
Chocolate Fondue Recipe
Chocolate Fondues are extremely delicious, so do give this recipe from www.fonduerecipes.org, a try on a night when a rich, treat is welcome. Children love them! You can add some brandy if you like for fondues for adults.
NB Use a ceramic fondue caquelon (fondue pot) or cast iron, but do not use a stainless steel as the chocolate catches and burns very easily.
Ingredients
- 5 ounces (142ml) of chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup (237ml) of cocoa powder, sifted
- 1.5 cups (355ml) of granulated sugar
- 1.25 cups (295ml) of water
- 0.75 cups (178 ml) of double cream
- 0.25 cup golden syrup
Instructions
First, sift the cocoa into a mixing bowl and then set aside.
Then put the water, sugar and golden syrup in a pan and bring to boil. Simmer for approx. 15 minutes, until the sugar solution has reduced by about 30%.
Pour the cocoa powder into the solution and blend with a whisk until smooth. Return the chocolate mixture to the stove and continue cooking over a medium heat.
Add the cream; bring to boil and allow to simmer for about 5 minutes.
Remove from the heat and stir in the chopped chocolate.
Pour into a fondue caquelon and keep warm.
Serve with bite sized chunks of cake and fruit to use as "dippers"
